It's hard to know just 'how' or when I got started with working out in general. A friend and I started going to the Y approximately 14 or 15 years ago (I'm really showing my age here). At that time though, I knew nothing about nutrition or protein intake, etc. I have learned a little since and have worked out off and on but have not gotten truly serious about it.
Mostly I have lived a lifestyle of eating better. I rarely eat potatoes, butter or fried foods. Chips and doughnuts seem to call my name but I don't answer too much, most of the time anyway :o). I get on work out kicks and then fall off. Then when I see I look like my before pics again it's time to do something about it.
I really love the quick results I seem to get by lifting weights. I don't know why, but I think I build muscle quicker than most females. Fortunately I like looking muscular. When I lift regularly I tend to look more masculine, so with my height and build, these days I wonder if people question my sexuality. No big deal. I singlehandedly raised four (now grown) children, I have a grandson and another on the way, so I am quite confident in who I am.
Cardio isn't my favorite unless it's doing something I find fun like dancing or riding my bike outdoors. I know I am going to need to pick up a routine for this though if I am going to drop some fat, but when I get to the point where I feel like I am killing myself it just isn't worth it to me. Reving my metabolism with weights and diet will be a larger part of my plan if I have my way.
