I was a three sport varsity athlete throughout high school, competing in volleyball, gymnastics, and soccer. My volleyball team and club team weight lifted year round, and I loved the feeling of competing with myself to lift heavier and push myself to my limits. I weight trained under some phenomenal coaches and owe some of my training knowledge to them - especially the importance of the incorporation of Eccentric (negative) training into your weight training. After high school, I felt that something was missing. I needed something to be competitive with, even if it was being competitive with myself. I saw a picture of a figure competitor and was in awe of the degree of muscularity and lean-ness she posessed. I showed my boyfriend, who is also a personal trainer, this picture and told me that my goal was to turn my body into figure competitor shape. Although I've always been fit, athletic, strong, and in shape, I wanted to perfect my own physique and push myself to a level I had never been before. I started lifting and learning and eating clean. I competed in two figure shows in two weeks and qualified nationally as an NPC Figure Competitior. I have since switched to Bikini and have made working out and eating clean my lifestyle and love inspiring others to better themselves. I am a nutrition and fitness fanatic and LOVE this lifestyle!
I have an immense passion for nutrition, weightlifting, and fitness. There's nothing better than kicking your own butt in the gym, finding out how your body responds to nutrition and making it your lifestyle, pushing yourself past "boundaries" that you prove to yourself don't really exist, and seeing that intense hard work really does pay off. The dedication and determination this sport takes is something that takes persistence through every minute of every day, from the hours spent in the gym to the dedication to eating clean, and the fact that it requires more commitment and love for the lifestyle than most anything else is really what makes me love it so much.
