I was an active kid growing up with my dad always emphasizing physical strength in our day to day lives. To make my dad proud, I'd constantly do feats of strength to show off. In my teens, my oldest brother became an amateur bodybuilder. Of course, being fascinated with anything that deals with physical strength, I looked up to him and learned a lot. I remained somewhat active throughout my teens, and always being the only girl in most gyms in the weight room. I understood how to use them and I loved the after effect. Most of my 20s I spent away from the gym, but I knew I would be back anyway. I needed the change and now I'm in it for life.
I love working out and weight lifting because of the sense of peace that it brings to me. It helps me feel calm amidst my anxiety and I know it is time I am spending on me for me. Testing my physical strength and capabilities on a daily basis also helps me focus mentally, and strengthen how I think and approach anything in my life. This is where I can safely let out any insecurities and become a stronger person inside and out.
