Started doing cardio workouts and improving diet at the advice of my doctor as a way to balance my cholesterol numbers. I picked up some equipment (elliptical, treadmill, bowflex) on eBay. I was pleasantly surprised when I realized I had lost 15 pounds and started to show some slight muscle definition. Now I'm curious to see if I can add some shape to my body and put some weight back on in the form of muscle.
I've always been skinny as a skeleton. I never had the skills or athleticism for sports. I have always been a hard worker though and gotten along great socially. Never any health problems. This year I went in for a long overdue physical with a new doctor. He happens to specialize in sports medicine. I checked out great other than my cholesterol was a bit lopsided and I was carrying a pretty noticeable pot belly. He suggested that I improve my diet and begin doing cardio exercises. So I found a NordicTrac Elliptical on eBay cheap. After a week of cardio, I just had the urge to exercise my muscles as well and picked up a cheap Bowflex on eBay as well. I didn't give it much thought until a couple months into it, I stepped on the scales and realized I had lost15 pounds. I looked in the mirror and noticed for the first time in my life that I had some muscle definition - albeit very slight. I found myself enjoying exercise more and more. Recently I decided that if I wanted to build more muscle, I should educate myself - and found myself here.
