How I Started
My name is Danielle and I'm the mother of a three year old little boy. I work part time and go to school full time. Ever since I've had my son I've been working to find a magic pill to get me back to my pre-baby body. Turns out, there isn't one. That's when I saw an infomercial for P90X. One hour a day didn't seem that bad, and after doing a bit more research I decided to make the investment on myself. As a mother it's easy to forget that you have wants and needs, too. Your kids come first always, but you also need to take care of yourself. I stayed committed for a little over a month, and lost a good deal of weight but I got discouraged and fell back into bad eating habits, my workouts becoming less and less frequent. I wasn't ready for that big of a change. Every now and then I'd get back into it and then just get tired and stop for a few weeks or months at a time. Then I realized that something was wrong. When I worked out and ate healthy I was energized, I felt good about myself, my confidence spiked, I was a better mother, a better worker and just all around better. When I didn't work out I was spending my paycheck at Dunkin Donuts and buying energy drinks, trying to get enough caffeine to get me through the day, and when I got home I was drained and would just crash on the couch. I didn't even have energy to play trucks with my son. I wasn't motivated to do much of anything. Then I realized it was because I was living an unhealthy lifestyle. I didn't want to be the mom that was too tired to do anything. I didn't want my son to have to pay for my unhealthy habits. So I talked to my coach about Shakeology and getting Insanity to mix my workouts up (I have a pretty short attention span). He hooked me up with a great package including Insanity and a month supply of Shakeology. I spent less buying them as a package than I would have if I had bought them separately. I started drinking the Shakeology right away and began a P90X/Insanity Hybrid, committing myself to 5 days a week instead of the recommended 6. I made my own workout plans and made meal plans for me and my family. I started motivating my family and friends to get healthy and get active. My weekends which I originally decided to take off became a time for me to try different workouts, experiment with moves I learned online or in magazines, and enhance my overall fitness. Push up competitions are becoming common in our household, as my younger brother is going into the Marines next month. Everyone's eating healthier, being more active, and becoming conscious of what they're putting into their body. Fast food has become a thing of the past. I'm now working out multiple times a day with members of my family and also close friends. Obesity and unhealthy living has become a trend, especially in America. I'm trying to reverse that trend. Even if only a few people decide to change their lifestyles I'll feel as if I've made a difference. A few people changing their way of thinking may inspire a few more people to do the same. If we can change the way we think, we can change our lives and the lives of others. Our health is one of the only things in life that we have complete control of, so we might as well take advantage of that. Become the best you that you can be. You're worth it.
Why I Love it
I love the way I feel after a workout. I love the feeling of accomplishment. I love doing something one week and then realizing how much better I've gotten at that same thing the following week. I love the progress, the motivation that I can only get from actually going out there and doing something. That moment when I get to the point that I normally have to stop and feel myself keep going. Knowing I'm getting better at everything. Knowing that I'm becoming better than I ever have been in my life.
