I was fat, obese, the entire early half of my life. Now that i look back on it, i really didnt eat that much as a child yet i remember weighing in at around 185lbs by the 5th grade at a height of maybe 5ââ¬â¢5-5ââ¬â¢6 or so. BF was through the roof and my doctor was constantly telling me i needed to lose weight. Genetics was NOT on my side.
On a whim during the 8th grade of middle school i decided to join my schools basketball team. Intensive practices everyday after school plus saturday practices made it almost impossible not to lose weight. Around that time i caught the beginning stages of the iron bug. Throughout high school i would hit the weights [purchased my first official Olympic 300lb weight set and bench press during freshman year], then hit a plateau and quit for a couple of months. I knew nothing about a good routine and did chest and biceps practically every workout, basically just spinning my wheels. lol. Yeah, we all remember those days! During the last two years of HS, my average weight was around 160lbs due to going out constantly, partying all the time, and eating about 2 meals a day, yeah not healthy at all. Looking back I was damn skinny, but at the time I still saw myself as fat.
Fast forward a couple of years during college is when i really decided to get serious about weight training. After taking a weight training course required for my GE, I was hooked again. I learned about weight training technique and about nutrition, all ammunition i use today for the fight against my genetics. During this period I have gone from around 175lbs to the bodyweight I am at right now of 215lbs. Bodybuilding.com and other websites have allowed me to grow both physically and mentally in the sport of bodybuilding.
