Although I've always been active and worked out on and off over the past several years, I've never really been a "regular" with any exercise routine. I decided to start small with the goal of running a 5K (an accomplishment I never thought I'd achieve because I absolutely LOATHE running). In 2012, I ended up running a 7k and finished a few minutes faster than goal time.
As a novice, my next step was Jillian Michael's 30 Day Shred but unfortunately it was just too slow a routine, so I moved on to Beachbody's Insanity.
I finished Insanity strong in late 2013 and LOVED it. I loved that it was tough, that I was always moving, and that I was CHALLENGED. I felt good after each workout and I looked forward to the next one. Towards the end of Insanity, I began doing some research on the benefits of lifting for women. Insanity got me lean for sure, but I was still missing that definition.
I finished P90x in late 2014 with some pretty good results, but my diet wasn't the center of my attention as it should have been. I wrapped up the year with Cory Gregory's Bizzy Diet... dramatically reducing carbs does amazing things!
Throughout most of 2015 and 2016, I worked out at home to a program I created that fits my needs (I just have a basic bench and weight set).
And now, crossfit. I truly have run the gamut of exercise programs, but I can honestly say that crossfit is the most fun. I saw the best results from my custom lifting program I followed last year, but it was tough to stay motivated on my own. Being part of a community at the gym is so much more exciting!
