How I Started
When I was 39 (Iâm 46 now) I was overweight. I had 2 young kids, 3 and 7 year old boys. My husband and I just built our dream home on a lake in Nebraska. He was the general contractor and did all he could to save us money and I was the Finance handler plus decorator. Let me tell you picking out everything for our house with 2 little boys was very stressful!!! MY GOD I don âthink anyone realizes how hard this was on me. BUT we did the whole job in 7 ms and then we had parties every weekend in our new home to celebrate our success!
Well, all these parties and us relaxing just got my fatter and more unfit fast!!!
I caught a glimpse of myself at one of the parties. I didnât even dress up anymore. I looked yucky in my not even very cute sweat pants with a shirt that barley fit me.
Living on a lake I wanted to wear a cute swimsuit, but I also wanted to keep my large body covered up. I just wore what fit. Sometimes I didnât even button my pants only because they wouldnât button. SoI woke up and screamed - Enough was enough! It was time for me to take action! I missed dressing up in cute clothes and feeling good about myself. It was time for me to care about my health and fitness!
So my first goal was to stop drinking and fit back into my clothes. No more wearing sweats all the time, no more feeling unfit.
I buckled down with less parties and more moving. My boys and I started walking arund the llake and in the fields. We loved our walks, it was our time to keep bonding. I was counting calories and talking with the boys about healthy foods. I wanted them to always feel good about themselves too. I am a working mother so I just couldnât workout whenever. Being with them was my priority. BUT I squeezed time in as much as possible. One day I got a treadmill and started getting up early and working out in the basement. 22 min is what I started with. Oh it was a whole new dedication to wake up earlier to get my 22 min in, but I forced it and it was done.
BB.com has a database filled with many different types of workouts for free!! I would look through the many workouts and then choose what interest me the most. I was a newbie to lifting weights. I knew how to do cardio and some machines. BUT LIFTING FREE WEIGHTS WAS NEW TO ME. Every day I would pull up my BODYSPACE free workout that was emailed to me and look it over and watch videos on how to do the workouts with weights I never did before. I love that BB.com has a databse filled with workout videos. I watch very careful how the BB.com athletics were performing. I would listen to them as they were telling me the secrets of good form. I would then print off the workout and then head to the gym to try it out.
OH boy did I get addicted to this behavior quickly. Within a year I got myself a smart phone and downloaded the BB.com app. This again was LIFE changing for me. Now all workouts and workout videos were in my hands! I could track it all and watch as I worked out. I signed up for workouts and I also just started doing my own then with TRACK YOUR OWN WORKOUT! This is for sure my number one app! The bonus of all of this is you get a weekly Progress report of your workouts. They tell me where I have improved and what PRâs I have hit. They give tips and itâs also a bit comical with them calling me wonder women or some funny sly remark.
Like I said I use the BB.com app daily! I donât work out without tracking. Which brings me to another bonus with this app. There is a variety of fit minded people that belong to bb.com like me. We all support each other Fitness journey. Iâm one to add many pictures since talk is talk but the pictures of my journey are PRICELESS!!! So itâs a safe place to place my journey of fat to fit.
I still find myself watching the pros on the bb.com workout videos. I want to see how the experts hold the weights and place their feet and so on. Iâm no pro and want to make sure Iâm performing the workout correctly.
Now that all these years have passed by I can say my journey would be the same without BB.coms free useful tools. I tell many people about this app. One of the first questions Iâm asked is, how much is it? ITâs free!!!
I had no idea I was going to write on how much bb.com is part of my fitness journey but it is and I hope I win the 250k challenge that I feel Iâm rocking. I now have reached my goals of fitting into lots of cute clothes and ROCKING my jeans. I also have lots and lots of swim suites for our lake parties.
Lately, what is really noticeable on me is all my hard earned muscle!!!
One of my last goals was to BUILD MUSCLE! Which I have found that building muscle takes a lot of patience and never quitting. I love the look of muscle on my body! ITâs awesome!!!!
I will end this with saying There are many things in our lives that can wait â improvement and our goals isn't one of them.
April 27th 2016... Still in it! Got the new car down to 130 and still working on being the best I can be!
As of Nov 1 2010, I have had pretty good success with fat loss. 40 pounds of fat loss is the exact amount I have loss since then. November 1st 2010. As 2011 started I kept as focus as possible and slowly lost a lbl here and there with Cardio workouts and eating small meals.
In the spring of 2011 our Rivers were flooding and my focus was more on we might have to move out of our house. I didnt gain any weight just stayed at current weight.
I was on facebook a lot of found a new page to follow BODYBUILDING>COM. This page has a ton of information and new ideas about building Muscle, which I have never tried to do. I was more about being skinny and followed the eat little do lots of cardio those size 8 jeans will fit! Through Bodybilding.com I found Fighter Diet and found I can eat a lot more while Getting to know weights. End of Spring 2011. Summer came around and thank god we didnt flood so things were somewhat back to normal, but I had to give up weights and stick with mostly cardio because of time with KIDS. . So I was still losing here and there, but nothing too fast. UGH, life of a mom its great but they are always first.
I tried being in this $100,000. dollar challenge with bodybuilding.com before but failed. August of 2011 I did do Fighter Diet's first 12 week challenge and stuck to it through the end, but didnt win. Pauline Nordin did tell me she was proud of my success. I just need to be more competitive. Funny thing is I'm very competitive, but in other areas. For example my kids my kids getting on Honor Roll, dong good in sports and most of all right now we are working on Eagle Scout badge, which is a lot of work!! So, sometimes/ A LOT OF times Im last in getting my stuff done.
I should mention my body has never wanted to be small, it wants to be FAT. There are a lot of fat people in my family. My appearance matters a lot to me. The better I feel the better my life attitude is. Right now, I have a great attitude on life and I know I owe it to working out!
Goals
140, weights if funny it goes up and down all the time and as long as I looked good, I really dont care how much I weigh. Its a hard mind set to obtain but Im pretty much there. I really just want to see muscle!
Have body fat down and be under 25%
Size 8 jean, unless my big muscles keep in a 10 and that will be fine!
I have entered the bodybuilding.com Formation 2013 because Money is a great motivator!!
I want a new car and some Botox! Did I mention Im almost 42! Oh boy!
So eating right and working out is the key. I love bodybuilding.com!! There is so much information on here. Its pretty much my favorite fitness magazine!! I love that they send workouts to my email!!
