I played field hockey and lacrosse in high school and college so I had an early start to speed and conditioning training. After college I became a Gym Rat Cardio Queen. I loved group fitness classes everything from Step Aerobics(yes I just dated myself) to Spin and Zumba. Even though I was very active and athletic I still struggled with my weight and body image. For whatever reason in the Fall of 2011 I was so bored waiting for my kids to get out of their dance class that I walked next door to a little one on one training gym. At 42 years old I started weight training the next day and for the first time began to notice changes in my body that I was proud of. About 6 months went by and a trainer suggested that I compete. I vividly remember saying "compete in what?" to say I was clueless was an understatement. However the seed had been planted and decided to enter a show as a cross of my bucket list goal in Sept 2012. I was petrified and had very little guidance but loved the experience. I ended up winning and earned my WNBF Pro Card, I was still pretty clueless and figured I said I would do a show and that would be it. Well it wasn't long after that first show that I realized how much I enjoyed the process and wanted more. I continued to compete in 2012 in the WNBF and made the switch to the NPC in the fall of 2013. I truly love the sport and it has become my passion as well as helping others through their journey. I recently earned my IFBB Pro Card in Figure (July 2015) and am now 5 weeks out from competing in my first Pro Show. Very excited for what's to come next!
I love feeling strong and setting an example for my children and others. I am a 46 year old single mother of two grade school children and if I can do it anyone can. If you have a goal regardless of what it is, staying focused, determined and surrounding yourself with people who lift you up and challenge you to be better the sky's the limit. I am also fascinated by what the human body can do when pushed and the changes that take place during contest prep. I love the journey!!!!
