I was always an ALL AMERICAN ATHLETE. After swimming for most of my life when i quit I gained about 40 pounds due to the stresses of life and living an unhealthy unbalanced lifestyle. 2 years later in 2010 I decided to get a gym membership. I would find myself doing 30 min of cardio and it being the "hardest" workouts and having no results. Shortly after I stepped up my game and started doing spin classes. After about a year of spinning I finally saw weight loss but the muscle deffenition I had always wanted still was'nt there. Shortly after I decided to start weight lifting. This however, always scared me because like most women I was sure I was going to get "big" and "bulky" from lifting weights. From there the rest is history as I began to see my body change I was encouraged by the results. Not only was my physical body changing but my emotional or 'inside" body was to! I didnt just look stronger I truly started to feel stronger with each and every workout I did! About two years into lifting weights I decided to start competing! Competing totally changed my life for the better. I have always been a goal setter so competing was the perfect formula for me! Now at last Im on the chapter of my life where Im going after my professional standing in the sport!
To me working out isnt just about the physical component. I see the gym as my sanctuary. I go into the gym no matter what kind of day it is and ALWAYS feel satisfied. My motto as a trainer and motivator to many is any workout is always better than no workout at all! I see fitness as a WIN WIN scenario for any person because when you are in the gym the only person you are competing with is YOURSELF. Bodybuilding gives me structure and it allows me to set realistic goals and reach them!
