I used to be incredibly active and such a strong, lean body. But then I moved to a city where I started living a more sedentary lifestyle, eating out more often, and quit smoking (which was a good thing but I started snacking and eating a LOT of sweets!). After a few years of this I looked in the mirror and realized that I didn't like what I saw. I was lumpy and jiggly, felt run down all of the time, slept poorly and began snoring.
I knew I had to do something so I just started doing random stuff when I went back to school.Trying SouthBeach diets and stuff, none of it was sustainable, and so restrictive that it was demoralizing. I tried running for a long time, even though I hated it, because all you need are shoes. But, because I hated it, I didn't stick with it. I tried aerobics through school, which was fun, but they don't offer it anymore and it's too expensive outside of university.
Recently, my fiance started weightlifting (he was in the same boat as I was and tried the same things) and started seeing amazing results. So, I signed up for a weightlifting course Fall 2014 and found out that I REALLY like it! In early October I started a BodyBuilding.com program and it's just so easy to follow!
I love weightlifting because I find running to be SO boring and tedious. But with lifting I get to channel my inner Xena Warrior Princess and Linda Hamilton as Sarah Connor! The changes to my body are fast and I love seeing the results! Being able to engage EVERY muscle in my body feels incredible and, dare I say it?, sexy!
