I got started in the realm of Bodybuilding shortly after accepting who I was as an individual; to include my personal perspective of myself.
Growing up, prior to finding bodybuilding, I could be described by classmates or peers as different, ugly, boy-ish, boy-ish looking, not pretty, etc. It was these comments that led me to believe that I really were those things that people made me out to be. Naturally I was always built "broader" than other girls my age, and my facial features were a lot stronger as well. As a teen I always put on muscle much quicker than others and never really had a slender build like others my age.
When my father bought me my first gym membership in 2007, and constantly worked with me in the gym, I fell in love. I finally found a place where I felt like belonged, and where my features weren't judged harshly. I finally found a place where I could be me. I found myself.
I love bodybuilding because to me, it is something that is 100% you (the individual). Yes, there are plans out there that we all follow, but it's just that: PLANS THAT WE FOLLOW. Plans are out there and written, but it is truly up to the individual to adhere to these plans to CREATE their NEW BEST SELF.
Working out, or the physical aspect of fitness is something I love because it makes me feel free.
