I realized when I hit 240 lbs that I hate everything about my body. I decided when I turned 30 that, for me 30 was going to the be the new 20. I was determined to lose weight and "Rock my 30s". I started with body weight exercises and lots of cardio. I recently hit a plateau and have started gaining weight again. I do want to be thin but the most important thing to me is being fit, so I started lifting weights. I'm not extremely focused on my weight. I am more concerned with my body fat percentage.
It makes me feel confident. My job requires me to be physical and it makes me feel awesome when I don't have to ask for help or when I can "hang" with the boys! I am a certified law enforcement officer, but a lot of times people only see me as female. I also train in a M.M.A style self defense school twice a week, so the more muscle I have the better I will be able to perform my job duties and my hobbies. Needless to say "fit is the new skinny".
