I was always super-athletic in high school, winning many team and individual state championships, and having many opportunities for college athletic scholarships. Back in 1987, there just weren't many opportunities for women in professional athletics to make a living, so I chose to attend my beloved University of Georgia on my academic scholarships instead. I quickly became very depressed at having no athletic outlet, and joined a gym. I was totally intimidated by the weights, but I started dating the manager, and he would train me after hours when nobody was there. I took to it like a duck to water, and the rest is history!

I don't just love it--I need it. I crave it.
