I was always petite, was never athletic, and never really paid close attention to health and fitness. I remember about 11 years (and several pounds) ago, I ate McDonald's every day for a month just to gain weight. Boy do I regret that choice now! I look skinny from the outside, but all those Big Macs and fake McChicken (yuck!!!) got stuck in my #1 problem area: my gut.
So I did get my wish to gain weight and was okay with it. Until in 2008 - my father had a heart attack, and heart problems run in my dad's side of the family. To make it worse, my grandmother from my mom's side died of diabetes. So I pretty much got bad genes, and my dad's heart attack was enough to get me thinking seriously about fitness. I figured I needed to do something.
Since I was never really into sports, I took up running. I've run a few half marathons and a marathon since. My weight and my body structure pretty much stayed the same within the past 3 years. I'm ready to sculpt and shape my body right now. In 5 months, I've lost 14 pounds, and my goal is to get to 90 lbs. Okay, don't raise your eyebrows, people, because that's actually pretty normal for a 5-foot person.
I've got 6 lbs left to go, and I do want to look toned - not emaciated!
I seriously love to sweat! 30 minutes on the treadmill or an hour on the stairmaster is a good day for me. I like setting goals, working hard toward them, and seeing the results. So far, so good.
