I have always been active, mainly through dancing, which I have done from a child up until my late 20's. After a move to Bermuda in 2012 I needed to get involved in something, have a hobby of some sort. Bermuda is a teeny tiny island so finding something to focus on outside of work was important unless I wanted to go crazy! I got involved in a few random exercise classes and eventually joined a gym in January 2013.
It was in May (exactly one year ago!) I decided that exercise classes just wouldn't cut it. Something had to change, my lifestyle had to change, I wanted to lift! I had a gym induction, a couple of training sessions and nutrition advice to get me started. Now I can't stop!
I have been with my current trainer since January and I am working towards competing in the BBFF (Bermuda Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation) show in August this year, in the figure category. It's a challenge and a scary one at that! That's why I'm doing it.
Working out makes me happy. It makes me feel good. Plain and simple. My time in the gym is just that, MY time.
Over the past year I have noticed positive changes in my body which I want to continue to see and improve on.
I enjoy having a goal to work towards, it gives me focus, challenges me and helps keep me motivated. I enjoy motivating others along the way!
It's not only a physical journey, working out is so very important for mental health too. Training is my happy place. "Happy healthy body = happy healthy mind" :)
