Life took an unexpected turn, I needed some outlet; something that would allow me to clear my head. I started running. It was never about the time or distance, it was simply the feeling of accomplishment and release during and after the run. You could just feel the stress leaving with every breath, many times huffs and puffs, of air. Eventually, I started trying my hand at lifting because a trainer friend convinced me to come in a few times per week. I was one of those misconceived "I don't want to get bulky" type of girls. I ended up moving for work and the gym I found myself in had a class called Women and Weights. It was capped at 5 ladies per class and they took you through a weight lifting sessions and taught you basics about the machines and how to create a workout. One of the trainers there thought I should try my hand at a bikini contest. I had never heard of the NPC nor was I sure about getting on stage. I eventually decided to go for it. I need a new goal and so "Why Not?" was the deciding factor. I have been in love with the gym, the lifting life style, ever since.
It's the therapy of a good workout; stress relief, emotion release, physical growth. There is always a new challenge; a new way to improve.Seeing changes is thrilling. I feel better physically and when you feel better, you are happier. The reason I love working out is simple; it makes me happy.
