The gym literally saved my life! I had struggled with anorexia and bulimia for about 10 years and had never been able to really recover and keep the weight on. I don't know when or how it happened, but I went from being a cardio-fiend and caring about burning cals to focusing on lifting and transforming my body and seeing food as fuel, letting me be okay with the weight gain.
Why I Love it
The gym = peace for me. No matter how I'm feeling or what I'm thinking, I can check all that at the door and just focus and be well. Working out brings me real joy and keeps my head on straight. It also does great things to my body, of course, and actually seeing results and getting stronger are fantastic.
