I always enjoyed some working out but with family and work, it got to be less and less. I was feeling run down with hypertension and constant headaches and stiffness. About two years ago, my doctor said my blood glucose levels was going up to concerning levels.
I decided I needed to do something as I was nearing my 50's so I decided to work out about 4-5 days a week. Now my bloodwork is good and my doctor told me to keep doing what I am doing. Best of all, I feel great with no more constant headaches or hypertension. It has really helped out my health.
I am not a bodybuilder as I do not have the great discipline or commitment that the others have on this board ( calling me a bodybuilder is like calling a jogger a track and field athlete). I do just as much cardio/stretch/Yoga as I do weights and my weight training is nothing to write about. For me however, it is just right.
Rather than for strength or aesthetics, I have found something more important in that exercise and nutrition has helped improve my quality of life. I can still keep up with my teenage kids in Karate and for that I thank the people at Bodybuilding.com.
