I originally worked out while I was in High School. I preferred it over a normal gym class because it actually involved hard work unlike the actual classes. I would constantly work out during the week because I like the results I had. I also ran for the cross country team for half the school year. After I graduated I fell into the trap of not working out for 3 years. As I began my preparations for joining the military I had to lose 8 lbs to ensure that I would remain under the maximum weight while I was in Basic. During Basic and Tech School I had gotten into good habits when it came to working out. I was scoring above a 90 on my PFT ensuring I didn't have to test for an entire year. Flash forward that year I didn't improve I declined because I again fell into not working out. Working 5 days a week for 12 hours the last thing I wanted to do before or after work was exercise. When I missed scoring a 90 by 4 seconds on my run I was pissed. By this time I had heard that I was getting deployed for 6 months. I made it my goal to workout and see the change that I wanted. To exercise the discipline that I know that I will need to make it to all my goals not just physically but mentally and careerwise.
