I started really working out in April 2012.
Prior to that I did very light, occasional exercise (jump rope, walking). Being in a sub-urban environment with little outdoor space didn't help much and I found it difficult to really get into something serious, either because I couldn't tolerate the muscle strain or I "just didn't wanna!" heh heh. My parents encouraged something more than the usual and got some weights and other equipment over the years.
Then in early 2012 I realized that I was pretty pudgy. I'd always been on the heavier side but I was beginning to become uncomfortable. I wanted to get into something but I didn't know how to start or what to do to coax my way into more intense exercise. One day, I was painting a wall and was laying out newspaper and I saw a review of Beachbody's P90X.
And that was it! I hadn't thought about DVD workouts outside of the cliche '90s ladies in really loud tights doing aerobics. And then I realized that there were such things that could help. So after a little research, I found that P90X wasn't for me just yet. So I started P90 in April "finished" and have been doing that off and on to maintain my results since. Someday, when time allows, I'll take a crack at P90X! :D
