I started body building when i was a freshmen in high school. Our school was fairly new and it had a strong body class in the early morning hours. Getting up at 5am to go to school sucked, and what sucked even more was that I could only bench press the bar. I felt weak compared to all the guys on the football team my age who were benching at least 135. As time went on I would get stronger, and i could see the muscle developing on my body, but I was still nowhere close to the physique i wanted. People still saw me as a tall scrawny white kid, and it was irritating that they couldn't see my progress like i could. Then my Junior year i started throwing the discus and shot put in track, and that's when I noticed myself getting stronger than I had ever been. I got a gym membership, and began working out with another friend on the team everyday after practice. I'd drink my protein every night before bed, and by the time the season was over I through the discus at about 125 feet. Summer came and I started working out with a friend who was considered the buffest kid in school and his 315 bench press proved it even if he only weighed 150 lbs. We'd workout 6 days a week 3 hours a day and it felt great. by the end of summer I had finally gotten to my goal of benching 225, a long way from a stupid 45lb bar. Senior year came and i worked out through the winter. Than Spring came, and it was track season again. My hard work payed off because I was throwing around 140 feet in discus now. I began wearing tank tops around school to show off my arms and was getting a considerable amount of looks from the ladies ;). People didn't look at me as the scrawny white kid anymore, and it felt good to achieve what i had wanted. My last track meet came and I through a 155 as my last throw ever. I qualified for state, but decided not to go because I wanted my last throw ever to be my best. Now I'm attending my local college and continue to grow and get stronger. My next goal is to rep 225 10 times.
