Always been pretty active, but a 90hr a week traveling job limited my Gym time, not to mention I ate crap. In January 2013 I was involved in a severe accident, breaking my pelvis, left knee, left ankle, left Tibia Plateau, 23 fractures in the Tibia, grade 1 tear in my MCL, torn Quad and Hip flexor, ligament damage in the left foot, fractured right hand, broken orbital rim, multiple skull fractures, detached retina on my left eye, a grade 3 concussion, and a severe head wound. I was diagnosed with PCS and PTSD and not soon after lost my apartment and my girlfriend left me.
Most would have hit the bottle ( I did stray a few times myself) but I realized I was given a clean slate, a fresh start and wanted to be in perfect shape and take full advantage of my new lease on life.
It's an amazing stress and tension reliever. When I'm having a bad day, I hit the gym hard and use that anguish, pain, and hurt to push for that next rep, go another mile, or add another plate on the bar. I am in constant pain from the injuries still, and the pain of working out is well worth it knowing the shape I'll be in.
