My brother made me a protein shake blended with a banana and peanut butter and I absolutely LOVED the taste. He told me that he had these shakes after his workouts, and I guess it was a combination of me wanting to be just like my big brother who I looked up to and me wanting a reason to have some more of those whey protein shakes. Also, my grandfather has encouraged weightlifting his entire life and he has been an excellent source of inspiration. I started off just throwing weights around for almost a year and not really knowing what I was doing, but then I started seriously weightlifting in August 2009 with All Pro's beginner routine which I found on this great website.
I love everything about lifting weights. I get a type of "workout high" all day after working out. I love the focus, raw strength, and of course the physical perks of giving it everything I have and more in the gym.
