I have never been athletic. In fact, I managed to fail PE in high school. This lack of exercise combined with an average American diet made me a chubby teen. Later, I ran around a college campus all day and ran around a restaurant as a server all night, so I managed to maintain a decent figure in my early 20s. After college I got my first real job. Like most jobs these days, I was required to sit in front of a computer 40 hrs a week. In my first year, I gained 20 lbs. (not exaggerating). Distracted by a stressful job and a bad marriage, I maintained this unhealthy weight for about 3 years. Then, I got divorced and began to finally use my work-provided gym membership. 6 months after improving my diet and beginning yoga, elliptical training and light strength training, I lost that 20 lbs! I also began a relationship with my wonderful man, mrdailous, who also believes in the importance of fitness. 4 years later, we're happy, healthy, and engaged. Now, I'm ready to really nail my diet and finally go all the way to reach my true athletic potential! Wish me luck!
Once you begin to experience all the benefits of working out, whatâs not to love?? Before I began working out regularly, I had issues with insomnia, heartburn, constipation, stress management, low physical stamina, general fatigue, and low self-esteem. Now, all of those issues have reversed! Plus, not to sound vain, but nothing beats looking into the mirror and truly feeling proud of what you see. When you work hard to look the way youâve always wanted, especially if youâre someone like me who isnât naturally athletic, itâs such an amazing feeling of accomplishment.
