Good question... After waking to reality when I was 18, graduated high school, and a beautiful little girl on the way, I went to work. After sand blasting & painting oil barges in Mississippi and not making enough to survive I was forced into moving into my first wife's grandmothers home. Of course this was not going to work. So I finally decided to join the ARMY. After a year and a half of training and normal P.T. I was shipped to Korea, my first duty station. I had 13 months to spend at my remote post right on the D.M.Z. So I started working out in the evening to spend the time. By the time I left I was running my two miles in 10:15sec, sit ups and push ups were through the roof. I had the highest P.T. score our commander had ever seen.
I was doing well and keeping myself motivated. THEN, I found out my wife had been running around while I am half way around the world. We were young and that is all in the past now. The more I think about getting that kind of news and being in the position I was in, I NEVER WOULD HAVE MADE IT BACK WITH OUT WORKING OUT EVERY NIGHT! Working out became my time to forget everything and just work. No other time of the day could do that for me.
So if you are having a hard time with anything get focused on a routine to relieve your stress! That wasn't my plan but it worked well!
Bodybuilding is awesome to me. I truly enough the effort YOU ALONE have to put into it mentally and physically. Also there is no better feeling when you go out to a picnic or group outing and you yourself are running and playing with the kids instead of "sorry honey I am too old to do that with you", lol! I can't stand to hear parents tell there little kids they can't play with them. I am always busy and every second I get to spend time outside with my kids I WANT to enjoy!
