When I was in the military working out was a necessity I never thought of it as a hobby. Then my unit deployed to Iraq and found ourselves doing patrol after patrol in a unnecessarily hot climate. My team leader Sgt. Lucas T. White got me into the gym on FOB Liberty one night after a boring patrol to get our "Swol-On." A few months later Sgt. White my team leader and best friend was fatally wounded in a roadside explosion now I continue to workout and keep fit.... in honor of Sgt. White. Now fitness for me is a lifetime goal worth the pursuit and will continue to be a part of my life into the future.
When exiting the military I had no idea of what to do next, what goals will I achieve next, and can I better my life in any way..? Entering the gym after getting out of the military was tough since I was injured while in service. The military gave me reason enough to work out sure,.. but I needed to find a new motivator, a source to drive the need for meeting new goals. For me that was the gym, that was fitness, that was my relief.
