I got started my fitness journey couple of years ago as a means to lose weight. i have a condition called x linked hypophosphatemia ( or vitamin d resistant rickets). this condition affects many aspects of my body, (Wikipedia will fill you in) but most noticeable are the way my bones deformed which in turn affects the way my joints move. after many operations through out my teenage years which inhibited my movement i gained a considerable amount of weight. (this did not help matters) and it wasn't until my mid twenties when i decided it was time to do something about it. i joined a weight loss group and a gym and after about 10 months of dedication i managed to lose 8 stone and return to a normal weight range. However in early 2016 whilst doing a seated leg press a sudden pain in my leg started hindering me. i put it to the back of my mind thinking it to be just muscle fatigue. but it did not go away. after seeing a doctor and getting an x-ray on my hip i was told it was enthesitis ( tendon inflammation) so i thought i would spend a couple of weeks resting and all would be fine. weeks turned to months and the pain still lingered. Eventually i fell out of my gym routine. and the weight crept back on. This can only make matters worse. it wasn't until winter when i decided something needed to be done as it was starting to hamper my getting about. i decided to enter the 2017 250k transformation challenge and really commit. but one week in after seeing the specialist doctor i see a couple of times a year and telling him of the pain in my leg i got another round of x-rays, but this time the whole suffice to say it was not good news and definitely not "enthesitis". i have two fractures to my left femur and felt like the whole training would have to be put on hold. but after a week of sulking and hobbling about on crutches i decided that i wasn't going to let a broken leg stop me. so i began to train! and here i am now. still going on a busted leg. waiting for an operation. but ......im still training.
