I have always been intrigued by bodybuilding. I can remember watching "the girls with muscles that did gymnastics" (as I would call it when I was a little girl) and also begging my sister to let me go to work with her (she worked at a gym in our hometown). I was always athletic -- track, cheerleading, gymnastics -- but I didn't end up doing fitness, as my gymnastics career took an unexpected turn in 1998 when I was in a horrible car accident. A stay in the hospital, a couple surgeries, rehab and years later .. I put aside the insecurities of the large scars on my leg and decided to begin competing in Bikini!
I was a very on and off gym goer my entire life. I would certainly say more OFF than ON. However I've always been aware of health and my body. I was in Vegas (doing the party thing) during Olympia 2013 and just got the bug. People always told me I had amazing muscle memory and genetics and should try it one day ... so at 34 years young I made the commitment to see what the best ME was. I started training in May (8 weeks) for The Flex Lewis Classic. I went into the show in the best shape of my life but with no expectations. To my surprise, I ended up winning not only my class, but the Overall title! That was it .. I was addicted to this #FitFam!! I did Knox Classic (my hometown) a few weeks later and took home 2nd in my class, then the next weekend I went to Tn State Championships where I won my class and Overall Bikini!!! I am so stoked to represent the state of Tn as our current Bikini Champ!! I am wrapping up my first NPC Bikini season by competing in Kentucky Muscle on November 8tg and then giving Nationals a shot just a couple weeks later! I can't wait for Miami! Hope to meet many of you there!! Please say hello if you recognize me!
From the lifting, to my weekly hot box class, to the eating in a very basic and structured way -- I love EVERYTHING about this fit life! I believe in a slow and stead and consistent approach. So you will never see me doing anything crazy to get on stage. I actually LOVE the structure of the meals. I was always so stressed out with the daily question of "what's for lunch" or "what's for dinner" - I love that the guesswork is gone .. except for my weekly cheat meal of course! I love that lifting not only makes me physically strong, but it has really helped me mentally. The gym is my therapy some days and the results have given me so much more confidence. One of my favorite things is that other people now notice my "muscles" and start asking questions. It feels so good to "walk the walk" and in turn motivate and inspire people to live a healthy life!
