After I got out of the Army I really let myself go. Since I was forced to retire due to medical issues I sunk into a depressive state. Being a Soldier was all I ever wanted to be and now that was gone. I did quit smoking but along with that and replacing my motivation with food I swelled up to 320 pounds. I lost 40 pounds last year but due to an injury and just plain old mismanaging my schedule I put it all back on. Shortly after Valentine's Day this year I was getting out of the shower and when I looked at myself I was disgusted. I didn't even recognize myself. That moment I committed to losing not only the weight that I put on since getting out of the Army but getting back down to my basic training weight. As of 23 July, 2014 I have lost 47 pounds, down from 317, and 9% body fat, down from 35% since 3 March, 2014. My goal is to be down to 225 and about 10%-13% body fat. I have cleaned up my diet and workout at least five days a week.
