I played sports throughout my childhood and during high school, so I was relatively fit. It was a great way for me to release pent up energy and stay healthy. My activity level steadily decreased from when I graduated high school because I no longer kept up with sports, and I mainly focused on school/work. I realized I should refocus my time on staying healthy and fit when a fitness center opened up close to home. Since then, I've done enough to maintain my weight. I decided I really wanted to become fit when I looked at recent photos of myself and I wasn't happy with how I looked. I didn't feel happy, attractive, or healthy. It was startling to believe I could let myself start slipping.
So here I am on my fitness journey!
Working out gives me an outlet for access energy as well as the opportunity to be my best. It gives me every opportunity to celebrate my small accomplishments whether it's being able to do one more set of pushups or just a handful more of squats.
Interestingly enough, my sister really has started to support me more. We now do regular exercises together, and it's a great bonding time for us. It's nice to have that extra bit of fun while exercising!
