initially I used to do pushups at home just to keep in shape. I didn't even look in the mirror as my goals weren't to grow. About 5 months of doing bodyweight exercises and all sorts of variations I looked in the mirror one day and I thought like wow.. I haven't taken much notice about how my body looked. But then as I stared at the mirror I could see a change in my body. My chest wider and thicker and my triceps were also a bit fuller. Then I saw a video one day about aesthetics. I fell in love and i went to bed imagining how good it wpuld feel to have a beautifully sculpted body like that. and that's when I wanted to get serious about the gym. I went to the gym with my older brother whom at the time spent 2 years training. But then I carried on by myself as I've learned all the skills needed for me to be independent and working out on my own. It's been a great journey so far, I've made new friends through this sport along the way.
Mainly because you're being the 'artist' of your own body. The weights are your brushes and your body is the canvas. You are the creator of your body through hard work and dedication. Ive felt The feeling of pride and success many times as I saw rapid changes in my body at the first few months of training. It's also disciplined me to stick with what I want to do and who I want to be by giving it enough time and dedication. Bodybuilding has thought me how to be this way not just for the sport but also for every other goal that I think is worth achieving in life.
