I started lifting weights when I was 16, and the only gym in my small town was a Nautilus. I have always been active, though at times have been forced to lay off due to injuries: lower back and shoulder. My lower back pain was truly a mystery, and doctors never could figure out what was wrong. I also have inflammation issues in my left shoulder than I have at times slowed me down. It has improved greatly with the help of steroid injections into the joint every 6 months.
I started working out because it just felt good! I gained 29 pounds over the course of 8-9 months in 2009-2010, and getting that weight off felt amazing. I've always just enjoyed being fit and strong and its been a huge part of my life!
I feel fantastic! I have so much more energy and my attitude is just better and more positive when I'm working out. It's a great stress reliever for me. I have never been in better shape in my whole life. I am blessed on a daily basis with people contacting me for exercise tips and to say that I inspire them. That blows me away! I feel so humbled by that. I am glad to serve as a role model for other middle aged women (and men!) who want to get in shape and feel better about themselves.
