In April of 2011, I had reached a low point in my physical fitness and appearance. I have had good fitness most of my life and even ran a half-marathon in the early 90's. I had let that slip too far for too long and decided to change direction and lifestyle. I have been fairly constistent at my weekly workouts and have getting back my running endurance and even adding biking and swimming.
By the summer of 2011 I had lost almost 30lbs reaching a weight of 163lbs. I haven't felt this good in nearly 20 years and realized that now I needed to build strength and endurance. I began reading about weightlifting and found Bodybuilding.com on the internet. I began seeing progress on a weekly basis which fueled my desire to continue setting and reaching goals. I find great satisfaction knowing that I am in very good shape at the age of 55 and have come to realize that we can be strong and fit throughout our later years in life. I have adopted the philosophy that "old age" is a myth. If you believe in old age, you are bound to get old.
