Was never really, "athletic," as a kid but always active. Boxed on and off in my early 20's at 138 lbs.
Then after school came the job, the student loan payments, mortgage, fiancee, wedding and I became part of The Rat Race. The result? By the time I was 26 years old I had gone from 138 lbs to 183 lbs. No that's not a typo...
And as pudgy-boy-business-suit-guy I found I couldn't even do a single chin up... Embarrassing and demoralizing but not willing to accept it so I started to work out. That was over 20 years ago.
Sure, I sucked at first but as I learned more about exercise and nutrition I got better results and reclaimed my life and my health. I'm a health coach and I kept in good shape for years. But recently with the pressure of raising a couple of kids while running our business managing over a dozen staff and supporting my wife's political campaign things got stretched thin.
My wife won her election as City Councillor in Markham but the campaign race home-stretch during the fall was brutal and I really let myself go. In just a few months I went from, "ok," to Rat Race Road Kill.
Now it's time for some Rat Race Fitness 911 and get myself back into shape - maybe even more than I ever thought I was capable of and helping a few friends along the way... ;-)
As a kid I was always skinny and had trouble putting on mass.
I could run forever but when I lifted weights, the muscle just wouldn't build until I really learned what works. And with a demanding business and family life I need to focus on what gives me the best return on my time invested. And that, my friends is lifting...
In life, you get what you are willing to tolerate. Being fit and healthy is just a part of who I am now. :-)
You all inspire me every day and if we can help each other get where we want to be then it doesn't get much better than that.
