I originally started with just a weight training class in high school, then after that I progressed to working out with a friend at his dad's gym, although it was too intermittent to really have any progress. From there I was at a state university where I had access to the on-campus gym. Again, I would only go and work out a few days a week, but during this time is when my interesting in the science behind weight training was sparked and I began doing research and learning about the different philosophies.
It wasn't until August of 2013 that I finally got into the gym full time and began training with a set routine and plan in mind. Since then I'm been making good gains, with most of my effort spent on dialing in a meal plan that works for my body.
My job requires that you to be at least in decent physical condition, however, that just doesn't cut it in my opinion. In order to perform my duties to the best that I am able, and in a safe manner without getting myself or other hurt, I feel that I need to have the dedication and put in the time at the gym and on the running trails.
In the end though, it comes down to a few simple things:
I love pushing myself; being able to add those few extra pounds to the bar, or completing just one more rep than I could do last week...
