I have always been very active. I swam competitively from the age of 5 to 20. Then I got into triathlons, backpacking, outdoor education, and yoga until I got extremely sick and was DX with Lupus and Hypothyroidism which put a halt to my active lifestyle. I have been lifting since I was 12 and have had trainers before, but I have never been able to achieve my ideal body composition. I had a baby girl 8 months ago and am still breastfeeding her and plan to for at least a year. I have an extremely active job on my feet running around all day.
I love weight lifting- the heavier, the better. It's hard to describe the feeling of accomplishment and well-being I get after a good weight workout that is so different from that of swimming, biking, kayaking, etc. I just feel so empowered- like I fully embody myself as a woman despite the fact that many women are afraid they'll suddenly pop veins and grow a beard if they get too close to a weight rack. I have more of a mesomorph body type so skinny was never attractive to me- I want to finally embody physically what I know resides inside me.
