In 2011 I broke my ankle slipping on a patch of ice. I spent 6 months in recovery after surgery, followed by 3 months of twice a week therapy. Just as I was about to complete my therapy I fell walking down a flight of stairs at home. I broke the same ankle once again and needed more surgery.
After spending 16 months away from the gym I found myself 42 pounds over my normal weight of 220 pounds. I was a little out of shape before my injuries (I worked out inconsistently maybe once or twice a week) but I couldn't believe how badly I let things get. The tipping point for me was when I couldn't fit into anything. It effected my mood and I didn;t want to leave the house. Finally I decided to just do it. I registered here at bodybuilding.com and promptly signed up for Kris Gethin's 12 week program.
I feel great after a workout. I really enjoy feeling sore as I know this is a good thing. My mind is where I want it to be when sweating. I feel focused and determined before, during and after my workouts.
