I've had an erratic approach to fitness for most of my life; I kept in at least not-horrible shape for a while due to sports and running on my own, but I've always had a negative view of my body and I'd like to finally change that. I did P90X on and off (patience and consistency are problems for me) and even though I never finished it/achieved what I wanted, it worked well for me. It's no longer convenient to follow that program though. Instead, I recently started going to the gym on a daily basis, and while I'm generally liking it, I'm realizing that I really don't have a solid idea about what I should be doing there.
On a side note, two significant motivating factors for me are my school's martial arts club which I recently joined and absolutely love, and my interest in joining ROTC next semester (fall 2012).
Even though I'm impatient and inconsistent, as well as generally clueless about getting in shape compared with most people on this site, I do really enjoy being active; who doesn't feel better after an exhausting workout?
