I was always active growing up.. figure skated competitively from 5-16 years of age, played all the school sports I could possibly fit in. Throughout post secondary I was apart of the track and field team but once I was no longer in school I realized there was a big gap and that was my active life. I always had a gym membership but one, I hate cardio, and two, there was no way I was going over to the weights where the intimidatingly shredded men where all lifting weights that were bigger than me. It's a slippery slope at that point and as so many of us know, your fitness can easily fall by the wayside when your busy working and trying to build a career. Classes at the gym were okay, but definitely not ideal. It wasn't until summer 2013 I got the balls to stop going to the womens only gym and start lifting weights with my boyfriend. After three months I felt like I had made huge improvements and I finally liked going to the gym. Then.. we went to Cuba, then it was Christmas, then all my progress was gone.. and here I am! ha.. Excited to get back on track, gain some muscle and stay active!
I love working out because it can turn any bad day into a good one; you can change your mood in a matter of minutes. it helps me stay positive, confident and reminds me how important it is to set goals.
