I started lifting weights seriously when I was 23 years old... I walked into the gym one day, full on relapse to my eating disorder of anorexia and bulimia, was a weak, frail 78 pounds at 4'8... The personal trainer looked at me and his eyes widened, with shock and worry. I told him I wanted to get healthy, put on weight, but not a lot of body fat... So he told me to start weight lifting, slowly upping my calorie intake, so I started weight lifting 3 days a week and upping my calories by 100 every 3 days... I slowly started putting on healthy weight, my body fat percentage stayed slightly lower than average/normal... And in 8 months I was a strong, solid, 94 pounds, with tons of energy and a thousand times happier! After this I was hooked! 28 years old now and I'm still at it & loving every second of it!...
It is my way of putting on and loosing weight the healthy way, without relapsing back into my old eating disorder ways. I also love to see myself get stronger, more muscular, leaner, lifting heavier weights, more sets and reps, sweating, pushing my body past what I ever thought possible, hitting and than surpassing personal records, even the soreness the next day/days. I love it all!
