I was always into exercise, soccer, jogging and a healthy lifestyle. When I was young my parents encouraged me to be active and healthy. Later, after coming to Canada, I fell in love with weightlifting and soon found myself competing in Figure at the bodybuilding shows. My first competition my husband signed me up because I was searching for an added purpose to all my training. I had three weeks to prep, no idea what a figure competition was but with some hard work and determination I went on to place second. I was hooked! Four weeks later I competed again placing third and later that year I placed second at provincials. I took a break from competing to focus on my personal training business and my family but I am back ready to storm the stage this year again.
I love working out for a variety of reasons:
- I love feeling healthy and fit and enjoy the self-confidence that bodybuilding has given me. Being a woman who is comfortable and proud of her body, especially after having 2 children, is rare and I enjoy helping other women and men achieve this feeling too.
- I enjoy the personal nature of weightlifting. Its just me, the weights and my goal. There are obstacles, but in the end I and I alone am responsible for my progress.
- Working out has inspired not only my family, children, friends and clients but also strangers. It thrills me to see others reach and surpass their goals knowing that I helped inspire and drive them. Hearing about their successes they in turn motivate me back to push harder and achieve more too.
