I was introduced to body building/working out when I joined the United States Army in 2008. Prior to that I played sports in high school and in college, but I never really set foot in the weight room and when I did I was always intimidated. I didn't really look at sports as exercise because it was something I loved to do and outside of that, I didn't give it much thought. After completing my enlistment, I embarked on a weight loss journey and was reconnected to the world of bodybuilding and working out. You can say its been a love, hate relationship every since :)
I love bodybuilding and working out for several reasons. Oddly enough, I find energy in the exhaustion. I'm not even sure if that makes sense, but often times, I've left the gym with more energy than I walked in with. Working on your body can be very therapeutic, a way to relieve stress and a sure fire way to make sure you get a good nights rest, but its more than that. For me its a way to fall in love with myself again. Some times in life we lose track of who we are and forget to take care of ourselves, because we are so wrapped up in helping others. When we workout or lift weights, we invest in our most prized asset, OURSELVES. With each rep we not only get stronger physically, but mentally as well. Always pushing oneself to just do one more rep and crushing goal along the way and before we know it we are more than half way through our journey or on to the next goal. If nothing else, we've achieved our goal we can go back and be proud of ourselves for all that we have endured, over come and accomplished.
