Growing up watching Dragon Ball Z, Bruce Lee movies, and playing sports usually leads people to lifting at some point in their life.
I ended up just getting a gym membership in high school, reading up on anything and everything about lifting and nutrition, but not putting that knowledge to good use in the gym due to lack of consistency and guidance (I was on my own). Eventually I got my act together and that has led me to where I am now.
Progress is addicting. At first, like most people, I wanted to lift so I could look better and have more confidence in myself.
Eventually--and thankfully--my thought process quickly matured and I started lifting for myself. I got addicted to getting stronger and seeing progress in myself. Thanks to that, consistency is no longer an issue and I have plans to compete in powerlifting near the end of 2016/at the start of 2017.
