I started out by joining the powerlifting team in high school, (1997-1998 school year). I enjoyed it, and won several awards , but the team trained only three days a week, for strength, not so much for muscle gain. I was strong, but there was really no difference I could see in the mirror. I still "looked" like a skinny wimp, basically.
After graduating, I joined a local gym and continued weight training 2 days a week. Progress and gains were slow. That was 11 years ago! This past October, I began training 6 days a week, thanks to my husband who teased me with, " I bet you can't do it! I bet you won't be able to wake up early enough to train before going to work in the morning!" So of course, I had to do it! The rest is pretty much history.
What's not to love?! Since I've started training 6 days a week as opposed to 2, I've come to see the difference it's made in so many aspects of my life. Not only do I love the physical changes I can see (sorry, no pics available), but I sleep like a baby, it boosts my mood and relieves stress, builds my self- confidence, and it makes me pay attention to what I eat. Et cetera...
