I began weight training in high school as an athlete heavily involved with football and track & field. After graduating from high school I transitioned from a strength and conditioning style of working out to bodybuilding. In high school both forms of athletics I competed in required that I carry some extra weight and size, but as I transitioned from one stage of life to the next I decided I wanted to begin refining my figure and create new goals for myself. I needed a new direction and bodybuilding found me.
Many people will say that they enjoy working out or are driven to do so because they are after a certain physique or that they just know it's the healthy thing to do. My passion for bodybuilding stems from a different foundation. First and foremost I train because through training I find my biggest release from the stresses and pressures of day to day life. It is my escape and my identity. A solid build and the health benefits of regular physical activity are the added bonus, but certainly not what drives me daily to continue throwing around the iron. As CT Fletcher has said time and again, "my psychotherapist sits on the ends of a 45 pound bar". I am an Iron Addict through and through.
