I actually fell in love with lifting weights when I was 12 years old and saw a Rachel McLish commercial for the Chicago Health Club. That was when I picked up my first set of weights. I lifted regularly till I was in my 20's, and for some reason stopped. I picked them back up again in my late 20's, but fell off the weight lifting wagon again. Now I am 40ish, and have decided that this is what I want to do...lift weights, be strong, and look great. Got a barbell with some more weight plates and I am ready to do this!
I love the feeling of strength, confidence, and knowing that I am changing my body but also my mind with a weight workout. Lifting weights is a great way for me to also deal with stress (as is yoga which is great for my flexibility) and I just get an overall feeling peace from lifting.Not to mention it is also nice to have tight arms so that when you stop waving they don't continue where you left off! Dealing with severe back and hip arthritis, so I am planning on doing my best to smash the goals I have set for myself.
