I started working out in 2007 after I graduated from High School. I did not have any knowledge at all and unfortunately also no support from friends and family. All they ever told me was "You are the skinny body type and there is nothing you can change about that!" To some extent I started believing it, but still I at least wanted to try it.
When I started in September 2007 I was 6'4" and 130lbs! I never managed to get real athletic but in the following 4 years, I t least managed to increase my weight to a healthier 180lbs. Then I kind of gave up...
This fall I picked it up again and now I am more motivated than ever before. My overall goal is to reach a very lean 220lbs or even a bit more. Right now I am at 190lbs.
Well, most of my motivation comes from the wish of changing my body. This is what drives me and motivates me. But I think I do well in the gym, because I am very goal orientated. I like to focus on what I do at the moment and then push the limit... each time a little further.
As a teenager a liked to mountain bike a lot and I still do, but with lifting, you can much more test your willpower!
