My journey started in 2009 when I was at my heaviest weight 165lbs (I'm 5'2") it took me about a year and a half of making healthy changes and finally sticking to it to drop 40 pounds in 2011 I started running and fell in love I ran tons of 5ks, 10ks, 2 half marathons and a full marathon by December of 2012!! At the end of my marathon training I got back into weight lifting. The picture in the middle is me at about 130 pounds of being "skinny fat" I was a cardio junkie and I didn't eat very well since I ran such long distances I let myself eat whatever I wanted as a "reward". After the marathon I injured my knee and couldn't run for 2.5 months so I really focused on hitting the weights and got introduced to clean eating and I really found my love for health and fitness. In February of 2013 I started playing around with the idea of competing and after going to watch my first show The Ronnie Coleman Classic to support my trainer I fell in love and knew I wanted to work towards being on that stage!! So at the end of May I started officially prepping for my first (of many) figure competitions!! The competition I did was the NPC Central Texas Showdown and was held on August 31, 2013 in Waco, Texas where I placed 1st in the Open Women's Figure Division making me now Nationally Qualified and also the opportunity to compete at the 2014 Arnold Amateur Classic in Columbus, Ohio which I plan to do. This journey has been so much more than a physical change for me it has taught me to be confident in the body that I have worked for and I can honestly look at myself in the mirror and LOVE the way I look. And the great thing about fitness is you're never done there is always room to improve and grow in this journey.
