I've always been active. As a kid I spent hour outside playing in backyards, riding bikes, playing in swimming pools. I played basketball from 3rd -12th grade, a stint in soccer, volleyball from 7th -12th grade, track and field on and off... When I got to college I gained every bit of the freshman 15; but through basketball officiating (about 10-15/week for 6 weeks and tapered off after the season) I resumed my normal body weight. I don't like running, but I enjoy a challenge and basketball officiating in college really opened up a new realm for me (as far as helping drive career direction, getting back in shape, and goals). I never really had an awesome excuse for not working out... I worked in a gym, I lived in an apartment complex that had a gym, and my senior year I walked past at least 2 gyms every day. Nothing keeps my attention for more than a few weeks, I've done kickboxing, 5k training, bikram yoga, yoga club, and boot camps. I started taking physical activity classes through college - it counted doubley - 1) if i didn't go it would impact my grades 2) if I went, I got a grade boost and my workout done - heck ya! (this included racquetball, 2 yoga classes, 2 swim classes, a boxing class, and a basketball class).
Lately - well for the last 7 months - I've been doing CrossFit. No... I can't do awesome numbers of strict pullups, I can't split squat my body weight, and I still hate burpees... But I love it. I feel good. It's an intense workout, and I love being done and covered in sweat knowing I'm a little bit better than before I came in.
